In Athens, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Georgia, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Athens is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Athens follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I went into the store this morning, I bought a beautiful bonsai tree a few weeks ago as a gift for my sister, who loves collecting them. Today I needed to exchange it or get store credit, and I was treated like absolute garbage. I waited in line like everyone else, and when it was my turn, this older lady at the register immediately started talking over me before I could even explain the situation. Her rude, dismissive attitude was shocking. She had zero interest in helping a paying customer. I was so upset and disgusted by her horrible approach to the situation. Nowhere on my receipt does it say anything about plants not being returnable. Nothing! But apparently they can treat customers like trash with no consequences. The two ladies working the register have the most unwelcoming, nasty way of dealing with people I’ve ever seen. It’s like they go out of their way to make you feel unwanted. I will NEVER shop at this store again. Save yourself the headache and frustration β€” take your business somewhere else where customers are actually respected. This place does not deserve a single dollar. Completely unacceptable.

Loved Cofers! We were visiting the area to meet up with family and had some down time and I found this nursery. I have lived all over the Eastern half of the US and this is for sure a quality nursery that actually cares. The quality of plants was noticeable and loved that they had a ton of native options. The only thing I was upset about was I got distracted by their button bushes and forgot to check out all of their native azaleas while they were blooming. Everyone that worked there that I talked to were all very knowledgeable and very friendly. Keep up the great work and will be back again the next time we are in town!

This is one of my favorite stores to go to. Staff is knowledgeable on the plants and they even helped me choose the right tree for a part of my yard a while back. The tree is doing very well. The plants are well maintained as well.

I’ve bought houseplants on a few occasions from Cofers. A monstera has done well. A couple outdoor porch plants didn’t last too long. My most recent purchase I’ve had for 1-2 months but just found tons of mealy bugs under the leaves. Pretty disappointing and alarming. Just hoping they didn’t spread to my other plants because I know how huge a headache they are when they spread. I did call them to see about return options but nothing was available. Wish there was more accountability for me buying an overpriced plant in an effort to avoid this issue, just to put my other houseplants at risk.
